The season at a glance
The Dubai hot air balloon season runs October 1 through May 31. Flights pause June-August for heat. Within the flying window, conditions vary enough that the month you pick noticeably changes the experience.
- October: season opens, warm mornings
- November-February: peak conditions
- March-April: fewer crowds, still reliable
- May: season closes, warming sand
November through February — the sweet spot
These four months give the most consistent sunrise conditions, the softest light, and the lowest wind variability. Pilots fly more frequently, cancellations are rarer, and pre-dawn temperatures (15-20°C) make the pickup window comfortable rather than chilly.
Bookings fill faster in winter
December-February is peak tourist season in Dubai. Weekend balloon slots often fill 4-7 days ahead. Book as soon as your travel dates firm up.
Summer closure explained
Dubai balloon flights pause June 1 through August 31 because daytime temperatures above 45°C and frequent summer haze make sunrise operations unsafe.
