What to Wear on a Desert Safari

Temperature swings 20°C between dawn and noon. Here's a packing list that actually works.

Layer for 20°C swings

Desert temperatures move fast. November-February dawn can sit at 15°C while noon hits 28°C. Layers let you adjust.

  • Base layer: t-shirt or light long-sleeve
  • Middle layer: light sweater or hoodie
  • Outer layer: windbreaker (optional)
  • Scarf or head wrap for sand

Footwear matters

Closed-toe shoes are mandatory for all desert activities — no flip-flops, no sandals. Trail shoes or sneakers work best.

Sun protection

Bring sunglasses with UV protection, a wide-brim hat, and SPF 30+ sunscreen. Desert sun reflects off sand — UV exposure is higher than city Dubai.
